Who Actually Needs a Content Creator?

If you went back in time and asked your grandpa he’d probably say no one. Then he’d follow it up and tell you that he’s 864 years old and that in all of his days on God’s green Earth he has never once needed a content creator or even heard of one.

My grandpa would follow that up with good advice like learn a trade or become a doctor, and he is still right about that part, join the trades, become a doctor, become a lawyer, become a diesel mechanic. And when your career path has been fully realized, be sure to leave some room in your budget because you’re going to end up actually needing a content creator!

Do they need content creators in Bloomington IL? Why yes. Do they need a content creator in Nashville, TN? All day every day. Do they need content creators in Chicago? Of course. New York? From buffalo to the Bronx. Lexington? Kentucky? France? Yes, all are basically the same place and they all need a content creator. What about at the auto garage down on 5th next to the donut shop? Yes. What about at your house? Probably. What even is a content creator? Well let’s take you way back to our day sonny when we accidently became content creators and started walking up hill both ways to work.

My grandpa said to tax the rich

To get fully into it we need to put this thing in reverse. To set the record straight, here at Mecoclub, we didn’t set out to become content creators, we’re filmmakers first baby. We’re glorious artists trying to have our day in the hot sun. The success of filming our own scripts and making masterpieces that you’ve only dreamed of in the deepest of sleeps while on a childhood vacation back in the glory days of life is kind of what we live for. So as filmmakers we only shoot films, ok? And we don’t take photos, this is a movie camera, stop asking, alright? And Instagram reels are weak and low art and should be shunned unless you're really bored, ok?

That's how we used to see it. We like to work with our emotions first and our minds second, we’re artists and I’m pretty sure that’s a  key part of the process.. Emotions and suffering. Then this crazy thing happened…it was a few years ago now but we shot some commercials and it was kind of fun. So maybe we aren’t just filmmakers, maybe we make films and some commercials sometimes, but that’s it. Do we do music videos? Yeah of course those are basically films. Can we make some promotional content for Facebook and Instagram out of the footage we got today? I guess, I mean those are like little films about the little films we’re making so absolutely acceptable. Can we take photos for your website? You mean set up lighting and create little movie scenes and use a camera to capture stills? That’s actually pretty fun, so yeah I guess we can do that. What about 15 photos and 10 short form videos for Tiktok and maybe a few more for your website? Whoa buddy, that sounds like content creation….Yeah I guess we can do that.

That’s how we became content creators. We thought we weren’t, and then when we realized we were, and we also realized that we liked it.

After this realization we did the right thing, and we leaned in. What that means is we invested in a new gear for more stills photography and the ability to shoot more short form video content on the go. We’ve added new clients by providing SEO content and blogs for their websites. We started adding multiple reels to our commercial video packages and therefore delivering more useable content to our clients at a better budget. We’ve been creating content which is what we’re talking about. In that process we’ve learned what should of been obvious. Not everyone needs a film, but everyone needs content creation.

Content creators are the tradesmen of the digital space. They have supplied the building blocks and framework to websites which are virtual business fronts. They’ve created an image for your company by making consistent branded content for social media. They’ve been the voice of companies in a world where people are listening to those voices on X and Linkedin. Content creators have been doing it all. I’d tell my Grandpa that we are the blue collar builders of this generation. Of course there are still actual builders that have that title but we don’t have to get out in the weeds here, just focus.

Videos are the most effective sales strategy in the world. They’re so effective that they are playing everywhere from the giant screens in New York City’s Times Square to the screens on the pumps at a Springfield Illinois gas station. They’re encouraged to be part of your listings on Facebook marketplace. Reels on FB, IG, and Tiktok are used to get attention in every industry, and not just through ads for the heavy hitters but if you look at popular posts in your area you will find videos from local automotive repair centers, restaurants, influencers, real estate agents, car salesman, attorneys, body shops, and don’t get me started on hair salons. People are posting videos because they get attention and because they are shareable.

All of the pictures and videos you see on a local and national level are all in some way a form of content creation. Every business with a product, service, idea, or vision needs an effective way to get that thing from their business to their potential customers. Whether it’s stills, short form videos, commercials, talking heads, how to videos, product videos, SEO content, or some other type of video production everyone needs a content creator.

The good news is that you don’t have to give your cell phone to the youngest person on staff and have them come up with something and hope it’s good. That’s not a winning strategy. You can actually contact a professional video production company that understands the full scope of what you’re looking for and can deliver an effective content campaign that can help grow your business and reach more customers. Contact us and let’s get a conversation started.
